Lake Erie Recap: Wind, Drum, and Big Bass Battles
The Columbus Bassmasters visited Lake Erie on July 12th and 13th, surpassing the halfway point in our schedule. Saturday brought strong winds and challenging conditions. Despite the weather, solid limits were brought to the scales. Due to water temperatures, a 3 fish limit was in place to reduce fish stress.
On Saturday, the top four finishers were Kevin Fiant, Brian Vogelsang, Rob Doughty and Rich Carter. Big Bass honors went to Brandon Hobbs. On Sunday, the leaderboard saw a shakeup with new names at the top. Ray Lowe earned 1st place, followed by Jay Siefring, Sean Geer and Rich Carter (pulling off back-to-back 4th place finishes).
Throughout the weekend, anglers caught a healthy mix of largemouth and smallmouth bass, with a healthy mix of Lake Erie Drum.
