2014 Individual Weights
Discussion for November Meeting
Make sure you make the next meeting in November which is going to be held the 2nd Wednesday of the month on November 12th.
Recap of minutes from October
If we choose to go to new points structure, and reduce the number ‘score-able’ tournaments to 6, we will need a tie breaker… maybe total number of fish caught, or total weight for the season, big bass etc.
With six tournaments, it is feasible that we could have guys with same totals… (two firsts, two seconds, two thirds…)
Here is a couple options to review if we decide to change:
|Place||Option 1||Option 2|
|** No Bonus Points for #Fish Caught|
Clear Fork Lake
Last club tournament of the year with the top four guys within arm reach of AOY Championship.
Bob Pharris going into the tournament in the lead goes as a co-angler with his boat already ready for storage for the winter. Some say may that be to their advantage? NOT Bob fished with Scott Gordon and on just the first few cast he had his first keeper from the back of the boat. Just minutes later he had a couple misses on a buzz bait. Here Bob and I are talking how cold it was feeling and he was getting blow ups on a buzz bait. Before we left the area on one lonely piece of wood Bob catches his second keeper on yes a buzz bait. But for us once the sun came up and the wind picked up our bite completely went away until around 1pm. Bob said there was a stump field close by in which we could give a try. I gave Bob the front of the boat to line us up. Within minutes of being there I managed a keeper fish and not long afterwards a second both on carolina rig. Then right before the lady sang for the day Bob boated his third fish of the day.
Karl Geugold took 1st place Top honors for the day with two nice fish weighing 6.13. I think he was practicing for ledge fishing at Kentucky Lake? Nice Job Karl!
Scott Gordon holding the two fish finished 4th, his Guide for the day was Bob Pharris to his left with all smiles finished 2nd place and WON 2014 AOY.
Will Presley finished 3rd place for the day. Seem’s like that Skeeter Boat is treating him well too.
To wrap up the day we had 6 guys weigh in 11 fish at 22.4 pounds.
Bob Pharris with a 2nd place finish at Clear Fork stays on top of the standings to win Angler of the Year for 2014. Congratulation’s Bob!!
CBM Points Standings
Looks like a tight race with one last tournament left. It will be a shoot out at Clear Fork!
Ohio Bass Federation Championship
October 4th and 5th the Ohio Bass Federation held there state championship tournament. We had 8 members from Columbus Bassmasters team enter the event, this is the second event this team has fished this year. The first one Terry Hall from the club won top honers winning the regional back in June.
This tournament was right on top of the areas first real cold front that moved in Friday night dropping temps down in the 40’s with wind gust through out the day both Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Still with adverse conditions 3 of the 8 guys brought in a 5 bass limit to the scales on Saturday and 2 of the 3 repeated a 5 bass limit on Sunday.
Top honors go out to Rod Russell for taking 1st Place overall and Will Presley 2nd Place and Scott Cooke finished 9th. This puts these three guys on the State team representing Ohio in 2015.
Scott Cook shows off a couple bass from Day 1.
Rod Russell shows off a couple bass from day 1.
Rod Russell 1st Place Winner.
Will Presley 2nd Place.
Scott Cooke 9th Place.
CBM Team back row, Scott Cooke, Roy Wade, Terry Hall,

Congratulations to Rod, Will and Scott for making state team. This is a great accomplishment for the three of you as well as the club.
